Travel to and in Freiburg

By plane to Basel
The nearest airport is Basel which is fairly well connected with public transport (traveltime: around an hour) to Freiburg - either by a bit unregular direct bus to Freiburg Main Station ( or via regular local bus to Basel Main Station ( and from there with the train.

By plane to Frankfurt
Frankfurt is also a good option. There is a high speed train connection (during the day at least every hour - traveltime: a bit more than two hours) directly from the airport to Freiburg (

By train
Freiburg is well integrated in the European high speed train network.

City tax does not apply
Because staying in Freibutrg is business related, city taks does not apply.
You need a form of the city of Freiburg. You can download them underheath:

Covid Regulations
To attend the conference, you will need to show proof that (1) you are fully vaccinated against Covid or (2) have recovered from the illness or (3) have received a negative test result within the preceding 48 hours. (If numbers worsen, the state of Baden-Württemberg may remove the third option. We will inform you if that occurs. Meanwhile, the safest policy - in more ways than one - is to get vaccinated.)

Getting around in Freiburg.
There are several options for public transport to the university:
1: S1 towards Littenweiler. Get off at Laßbergstrasse;
2: S10 towards Villingen. Get off at Littenweiler station;
3: S11 towards Titisee. Get off at Littenweiler station.

Main rooms for presentations are in KA (8), all other, incl. registration, are in KG (4).
Lunch on Thursday and Friday as well as potential corona testing will be at Mensa (9).
