Factors affecting career choice of future economics teachers
Theme 5 Miscellaneous.
Researchers and academics.
Due to the great importance of teachers for overall school learning, the question of who becomes a teacher and for what motives is increasingly coming into focus in current research. Our contribution is based on the BMBF-funded project "Factors of career choice motivation, attitudes and habitus of prospective economics teachers (FaBelHaft)". For FaBelHaft, a theoretical model of career choice was developed that further develops the existing research of Watt & Richardson (2006) and Puderbach (2014) and adds theory-based two more possible components of variance explanation: a specific school subject, here economics, and current attitudes towards the subject and towards inclusion. In our contribution, first results of the project with N=331 prospective economics teachers in Germany will be presented.
